For 40 years, Southwest Montana Community Health Center has provided excellent healthcare to Butte, Dillon, and Anaconda. We realized our name was too long, hard to say, and took up too much space. We wanted a name that unites these three communities and the surrounding areas.

Recently, we announced our new name—Blacktail Health. It’s a name that better reflects who we are: a welcoming, accessible healthcare provider serving everyone.

With this exciting announcement, I wanted to take the opportunity to reintroduce ourselves.

Blacktail Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), which means we are a patient-governed clinic that provides primary medical care, dental, and behavioral health services regardless of insurance status. We provide excellent care through a team of compassionate professionals, including clinical pharmacists and care managers who work directly with the medical teams.

We offer services on a sliding fee scale for those who qualify, making healthcare accessible and affordable. We also operate two retail pharmacies and offer medication packaging, mobile health, and school-based services, bringing healthcare directly to where it is needed most.

We serve everyone. We accept Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance, and we assist those without insurance or with limited coverage. Please see us, and we will help you navigate your options so no one goes without healthcare.

In addition to providing high-quality care to nearly 13,000 patients each year, we also offer convenience. You can see your therapist, dentist, and primary care doctor without calling multiple providers or dealing with separate bills.

We want to assure everyone that we are still the same independent nonprofit local health center that has been serving Butte, Anaconda, and Dillon for decades, known for providing exceptional wraparound care and a convenient ‘one-stop’ healthcare experience. The only change is our name.

Patients will notice a new logo, website URL, email address, and invoices. But don’t worry if you forget—our old emails and website will still be functional. If you have questions, give us a call— all the phone numbers will stay the same.

Blacktail Health is more than just a healthcare provider. We are a trusted community partner, collaborating closely with local schools, hospitals, employers, and government agencies to address barriers to care. We deliver patient-centered services for a wide range of health needs throughout our patients’ lives—from pediatrics to geriatrics. Every team member is dedicated to treating patients with dignity, respect, and compassion.

The work we do is meaningful, and our mission motivates us every day. We believe in providing quality care from a complete team of professionals and in offering the kind of personal attention that makes you feel confident you belong. Our strength lies in building relationships and connecting you to resources that create a lasting impact on your life.

If you are a long-time patient, you know we are always here for you, whether you’re stopping by for a routine visit or need immediate care. We’re open early in the morning, later at night, and on Saturdays.

If you aren’t a current patient or haven’t been recently, come check us out. Insured patients choosing Blacktail Health as their provider helps sustain our mission. You will receive convenient, comprehensive, high-quality care from compassionate staff while helping ensure access to care for our entire community, especially as so many are struggling to afford insurance right now.

As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to advancing our mission, strengthening partnerships, and continuing to make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.
