A regional independent non-profit that provides healthcare services to anyone, regardless of insurance status, now has a new name.

What had been known as Southwest Montana Community Health Center in Butte and Anaconda, and Blacktail in Dillon, are now all under the Blacktail Health banner.

Blacktail Health has been around for 40 years, and as a federally qualified health centerthey provide a wide range of services, from medical to dental to clinical, as well as school-based care.

“All of our names together don’t change anything. It’s still about the people that work for us the patients we have and the communities we’re in. And that’s what’s important,” said Wayne Harper, the chair of the Blacktail Health board of directors and a long-time board member.

The new name helps clear up confusion and gives them a unique identity.

“In our logo we have three peaks in the mountain. That stands for or symbolizes taking care of a person’s physical health, mental health, and social determinants of health as well. And we are really focused on team-based care,” said Blacktail Health executive director Tammy Cox. “All of very qualified professionals work at the top of their license. We have team-based clinical pharmacists, behavioral health therapists, that really work together with the medical provider teams. So we always say that patients have a whole team of people taking care of them.”

Blacktail serves nearly 13,000 patients and accept all insurance. They charge based on a sliding scale and that includes patients with high deductibles.

Community Health Center Pharmacy in Butte is also changing names and will be known as Blacktail Pharmacy.
